Demand for electricity has increased 3-4 times over 10-20 years, - head of the Energy Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Kyrbashova noted that this phenomenon is characteristic not only of Kyrgyzstan but is a global trend. In neighboring countries facing energy shortages, energy-saving measures are actively being implemented, involving well-known artists and public figures.
According to her, the main factors contributing to the growth in electricity consumption are the increase in population and the rise in energy consumption per capita. She explained that 10-20 years ago, household appliances were less energy-intensive: small refrigerators, infrequent use of televisions, and the absence of air conditioners significantly reduced overall electricity demand. Today, consumption has increased 3-4 times, which is also related to the growth in the number of enterprises, mini-workshops, and new residential complexes.
Kyrbashova added that the construction of new power plants is a long-term process, and until they are ready, it is necessary to actively implement energy-saving practices. She also reminded that the financing of the energy sector is carried out through taxes, subsidies, and loans, so the rational use of resources becomes especially important. In this regard, it is recommended to use energy-efficient devices and appliances of class A and above, as well as to replace regular bulbs with energy-saving ones.
“Our parents always taught us to save. Today, we should adhere to this principle and be responsible in our electricity consumption,” emphasized Kyrbashova.
