Russia proposes to increase the import customs duty on elevators in the EAEU from 0% to 5%

- Russia is initiating an increase in the import customs duty on elevators for EAEU countries from 0% to 5% of their customs value. The information was published on January 14 on the official EAEU portal.

In the Eurasian Economic Commission, it was clarified that this measure concerns elevators with electric control that provide a cabin speed of more than 2 m/s and are classified under code 8428 10 200 1 of the EAEU Customs Tariff.

According to representatives of the EEC, the proposed changes from Russia are aimed at supporting and developing domestic elevator manufacturers, as well as increasing their competitiveness within the Eurasian Economic Union.

In the first 11 months of 2025, the volume of elevator imports from China to EAEU countries amounted to $246 million under HS codes 842810.
