In Kyrgyzstan, gold and coal reserves have increased: what is happening in the mining industry
The most significant results are observed in 2024-2025. As a result of extensive geological exploration at the Kumtor deposit, gold reserves increased by 147.4 tons in 2024 and were accounted for in the state balance. This opens up the possibility for the continued operation of the mine for decades, ensuring its stable functioning while considering environmental and social aspects.
Additionally, last year, reserves discovered in the "Kumtor" tailings storage facility were included in the state balance, amounting to 121 tons of gold and 225 tons of silver. The implementation of this project is expected to take 17 years. In the first half of 2025, design work will be completed, after which several key facilities will begin to operate.
At the Buchuk site of the Solton-Sary deposit in the Naryn region, the gold processing plant has already launched pilot operations and has started producing gold.
It is also worth noting the increased interest in the coal industry. Since the beginning of last year, 34 licenses for solid fuel extraction have been issued, and more than 20 new sites have been put into operation. Among the new deposits are the gold-bearing Shakhtal deposit in the Naryn region, as well as the coal deposits of Kozho-Kelen and Besh-Burkhan in the Osh region.
These measures are aimed at ensuring the domestic market with fuel and energy resources, as well as increasing the country's export potential.
