According to media reports, the epicenter was located in the northeastern part of the country in Badakhshan province, with the focus lying at a depth of approximately 190–200 km. This circumstance contributed to the seismic waves spreading over vast areas.
Tremors were felt in neighboring countries such as Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, where the intensity of the vibrations reached 2–3 points in some places.
Unfortunately, preliminary information indicates that the earthquake resulted in human casualties. In Kabul, reports mention at least eight fatalities who were trapped under the rubble of a collapsed building. Additionally, there are injured individuals, the number of which is currently being clarified.
The Hindu Kush is a region with high seismic activity, where earthquakes occur frequently due to the collision of tectonic plates. Even with a relatively small magnitude, such events can be felt over significant distances.
