Mongolian-Turkish cooperation in the defense sector enters a new phase

“From March 23 to 27, 2026, the 11th consultations between the ministries of defense of Mongolia and the Republic of Turkey took place in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Turkey,” notes MiddleAsianNews.

During this meeting, key aspects of strengthening military cooperation, partnership in the defense industry, and ensuring regional security were discussed. The main goal of these consultations was to deepen cooperation in the fields of technology and education.

The participants discussed the current state of bilateral relations in the defense sector, outlined an action plan for the future to expand partnership, and signed a cooperation protocol.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on cooperation in areas such as military training, joint exercises, cybersecurity, and collaboration in scientific research.

The meeting was attended by high-profile representatives of the defense sector, including Colonel Gansukh Erkhambayar, who heads the Strategic Policy Department of the Ministry of Defense of Mongolia, as well as Brigadier General Erdogan Chatal, responsible for external relations of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces.

It is worth noting that in January 2025, the presidents of Mongolia and Turkey, Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, respectively, signed a joint declaration on strategic partnership between the two countries.
