
According to information from MiddleAsianNews, this year an increase in the livestock population to 22.4 million animals is expected, with 238,000 newborns already recorded in the first three months.
As of today, 1.1% of the total breeding stock has already produced offspring, resulting in the emergence of over 238 thousand young individuals. The spring conditions in the country have proven favorable, contributing to low mortality and high survival rates among the young — 99.5 thousand individuals.
The leader in birth and survival rates is the Dundgovi aimag, where out of more than 1.2 million breeding animals, 37,773 individuals have given birth. Mostly, these are lambs and kids, and no cases of death have been recorded. The Ömnögovi aimag has set a record for the number of camel calves, totaling 673 individuals.
By region, the highest birth rates are observed in the central part of the country — 1.6%, followed by the Khangaï region — 1.1%, the western region — 0.9%, and the eastern region — 0.3%.
For comparison, according to the National Statistical Office, during the same period in 2025, the birth rate was 4.8%, and the survival rate of newborn animals was 98.3%.
