As part of new financial measures, the government is launching initiatives aimed at developing the tourism sector, improving infrastructure, and attracting more foreign guests.

“The Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth has announced a preferential lending program with an interest rate of 6% for a term of up to six years,” noted MiddleAsianNews.

Loans will be issued through ten commercial banks and will be directed towards financing various infrastructure projects, including hotels, tourist complexes, accommodation points along roads, service centers, as well as air and ground transport for tourists. Borrowers will be able to take advantage of a grace period for repaying the principal debt, which will range from 12 to 76 months. Additionally, loan amounts for projects not related to air transportation can reach ₮7 billion (approximately $2 million).

This year, ₮250 billion (about $70.1 million) will be allocated for the implementation of the program, and ₮13 billion (around $3.64 million) is also provided in the state budget for 2026 to subsidize interest rates. These measures are expected to improve service quality and expand the tourism infrastructure across the country.

Tourism plays an increasingly important role in the country’s economic development. In 2025, Mongolia welcomed over 847,000 tourists, contributing 7.8% to the gross domestic product and exceeding last year's figures by 16%. This year, the government aims to attract one million tourists.

As part of its regional development strategy, Mongolia has designated 17 sites in 12 aimags as national tourist zones for the first time, which should promote balanced growth in the regions and advance key tourist destinations.

The country is actively working on developing tourism as an essential component of its economy. Support measures for tourism entrepreneurs are being implemented, infrastructure is being improved, service standards are being raised, and Mongolia's natural and cultural heritage is being promoted on the international stage. This year, 14 sports events, 99 cultural tourism events, and about 140 other events, including international conferences, seminars, and exhibitions, are planned, which officials believe will further enhance Mongolia's attractiveness to foreign tourists.
