In Dagestan, flooding has begun after the rains. A state of emergency has been declared in Makhachkala.
According to Sergey Melikov, the head of the republic, the weather situation turned out to be much worse than expected by the utility services, which had prepared in advance for deteriorating conditions.
The most critical situation is observed in Makhachkala, where dozens of houses are flooded and more than 60,000 people are left without electricity.
A railway bridge has also collapsed in Khasavyurt. Reports indicate that no train was on the bridge at the time of its collapse, but traffic on this route has now been halted.
In Derbent, roads are flooded, and local residents report how strong water currents are overturning and sweeping away vehicles. According to media reports, efforts are being made to evacuate people who are isolated in their homes using boats.
