Noelia Castillo Ramos, a 25-year-old resident of Spain, underwent euthanasia, a process she fought for nearly two years, reports El Pais.

According to the publication, the girl's parents struggled with drug addiction, lost their home, and separated. For 12 years, Noelia lived in shelters, and after reaching adulthood, she was placed in a social center, where in 2022 she became a victim of gang rape. After that, the girl repeatedly attempted to take her own life, including an incident where she fell from a window but survived, becoming paralyzed.

Since then, Noelia claimed that her body had become a "prison," constantly reminding her of what she had endured. In 2024, unable to bear the physical and mental pain, she applied for permission for euthanasia, which has been legalized in Spain since 2021.

Euthanasia was carried out on March 26 at a medical facility in Sant Pere de Ribes, located in Catalonia. Noelia, who became the youngest Spaniard to undergo this procedure, previously stated that she did not want her family and loved ones to be present during the injection.

“I told my family that they could come to say goodbye, but not at the moment when I would be getting the injection. I don’t want anyone to be nearby; I don’t want them to see me closing my eyes,” El Pais reports her words.
