More than a million citizens of Iran mobilized in case of a U.S. ground operation. What else happened?
According to Mehr news agency, more than a million citizens of Iran have been mobilized in case of a possible U.S. ground operation.
According to a report by The New York Times, the decision to initiate a ground operation against Iran has already been made.
American Republicans participated in a closed briefing on Iran in Congress, who, dissatisfied with the plans of the Trump administration, left the meeting, reports the Daily Mail.
A group of Republicans expressed their dissatisfaction by leaving the closed session where military actions in Iran were discussed. Lawmakers noted that Trump is preparing for ground intervention without consulting Congress.
According to a source, three key objectives were presented to the briefing participants: capturing Khark Island, through which 90% of Iran's oil exports pass, destroying nuclear materials, and regime change.
Congresswoman Nancy Mace noted on X that the arguments presented to the public do not match what was stated in the briefing. Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, stated: “We are simply not getting enough answers.”
According to information from The Wall Street Journal, the chances of an internal uprising in Iran have virtually disappeared, and Israeli and American authorities are confident that the regime in Tehran maintains control over the situation.
Against this backdrop, Israel, as reported by the publication, has ceased attacks on Iran's internal security forces and focused on reducing its military capabilities.
At the same time, Donald Trump announced a suspension of strikes on Iran's energy facilities until April 6, claiming that negotiations between Tehran and Washington are progressing successfully.
Pakistan's intelligence informed the U.S. about possible attempts by Israel to eliminate Iran's Foreign Minister Araghchi and Speaker of Parliament Ghalibaf, which could disrupt peace negotiations, reports Reuters.
Pakistan urged the United States to pressure Israel to prevent attacks on these high-ranking officials. “The Israelis had their coordinates, and they intended to eliminate them. We warned the U.S.: if these individuals are destroyed, there will be no one to negotiate with, so the U.S. asked the Israelis to back off,” noted a source from Pakistan.
