A new draft law proposed in Mongolia aims to improve the current taxation situation. It provides for the exemption from taxes of all prize money, bonuses, and similar income received by the national esports team of the country and its registered players. This also applies to funds provided by foreign companies and other entities. Additional details were published on MiddleAsianNews.
It is also expected that this tax regime will extend to related federations and organizations.
If the draft law is adopted, it will help attract youth to esports, reward achievements on the international stage, and provide Mongolian esports teams with more opportunities to compete at a global level.
Mongolian players are already earning significant amounts at international competitions. By March 2026, the team The MongolZ managed to earn $1,565,100 in prize money.
The distribution of prize money for the MongolZ team at major tournaments is as follows:
- Esports World Cup 2025: $500,000 for first place.
- Thunderpick World Championship 2024: $500,000 for 1st place.
- YaLLa Compass 2024: $200,000 for first place.
- FISSURE Playground #2: $100,000 for 2nd place.
- MESA Nomadic Masters Spring 2024: $50,000 for 1st place.
- IEM Katowice 2025: $80,000 for 3-4 places.
Additionally, one of the team members, Sodbayar Techno4K Munkhbold, was awarded the MVP (Most Valuable Player) title at the Esports World Cup 2025 tournament, which earned him an additional $10,000.
