The Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the CSTO has published a statement in response to the worsening situation in the Middle East concerning Iran.
The document expresses concern over the rising tensions, which the organization attributes to the actions of extra-regional forces that are deemed provocative.
Parliamentarians emphasized that such actions pose a serious threat to international peace and security. The statement also highlights the inadmissibility of the use of force and threats against sovereign states.
The CSTO PA Council calls on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and to resume dialogue for the peaceful resolution of existing conflicts. The document also expresses support for the people and government of Iran.
“We consider the use of force unacceptable and insist that all contradictions be resolved exclusively through peaceful means based on dialogue, mutual respect, and consideration of the interests of all parties in accordance with international legal norms and the UN Charter,” the statement notes.
