According to Orbán, "as long as Ukraine does not resume oil supplies, gas from Hungary will not arrive." He emphasizes that the government is protecting energy security and plans to maintain regulated gasoline prices and low gas tariffs for the population. The statement was made in a video published on his social media pages, where he also expressed his opinion on the matter.
Orbán noted that this is his "final offer," as Ukraine has been obstructing the operation of the Druzhba oil pipeline for 30 days. He added that Hungary will gradually start to halt gas supplies, and the released volumes will be directed to local storage facilities.
In recent weeks, Hungary has demanded that Ukraine fix the issues on the section of the Druzhba pipeline that runs through its territory and ensures the flow of Russian oil. In particular, this issue has led to Hungary blocking a $90 billion loan to Kyiv, accusing Ukraine of deliberately halting oil supplies.
In mid-February, Hungary also suspended diesel fuel supplies to Ukraine, citing the cessation of transit through the Druzhba pipeline. A similar decision was made by Slovakia, which also receives Russian oil. During the same period, Hungary warned of a possible halt in electricity and natural gas exports.
