Trump stated that Iran agreed to abandon nuclear weapons

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iran has definitively abandoned its intentions to develop nuclear weapons. “As I said before, they will not have nuclear weapons. They have agreed that they will never have them,” Trump noted at a press conference at the White House.

According to the president, the United States is currently negotiating with Iran. “I can say they want to reach an agreement — that’s quite natural. Their navy and air force are destroyed, their communication systems are also at risk,” he added. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance are participating in these negotiations.

However, Trump did not specify who exactly the negotiations are with in Iran. He also noted that many Iranian leaders have “disappeared” and now “no one knows who to talk to,” but assured that the U.S. is talking “to the right people” who are “very interested in an agreement.”

On March 23, Donald Trump announced that he had held talks with the Iranian side, after which he decided to impose a five-year moratorium on strikes against Iranian energy facilities. Tehran denied any contacts with Washington. According to information from The Guardian, the U.S. delegation in negotiations with Iran may be led by JD Vance.

The next day, March 24, Ynet reported that Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei had agreed to negotiations with American representatives to resolve the conflict. This agreement was reportedly conveyed secretly through Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. “The new leader approved a quick resolution of the conflict on the condition that our demands are met,” the publication cites a high-ranking Iranian source.
