The National Center for Training Specialists in Child Nutrition and Food Production has opened in Ulaanbaatar

On March 24, 2026, a grand opening ceremony was held at the Mongolian University of Science and Technology for a new center that will focus on the production of child nutrition, teaching the fundamentals of nutrition, and educational methods.

At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education Gantulga Donorov noted that proper nutrition and education in this area play an important role in the healthy development of children. He emphasized that the new center will become an important institution for training specialists, enhancing their qualifications, as well as for scientific research and methodological work. In their speeches, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Mongolia Choi Jin-won and Member of Parliament Enkh-Amgalan Luvsanceren highlighted the significance of cooperation between the countries.

The center will primarily focus on uniting and developing educational, research, and methodological initiatives in the field of child nutrition, as well as adapting the best international practices to local conditions and training qualified personnel.

The center is expected to have a significant impact on providing students with quality nutrition in accordance with modern standards and helping to form healthy eating habits.

As part of this initiative, a new kitchen for the preparation and serving of school meals has also been opened at Secondary School No. 48. This will ensure safe and nutritious dishes that meet the requirements of the school environment. The school, which serves over 4,500 students, is among the institutions with high capacity, where about 2,000 children participate in the school nutrition program.

The project is being implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Korea International Cooperation Agency, and the non-governmental organization VIT. This is part of a larger program to modernize school nutrition in ten schools in the capital and strengthen human resources. It is expected that the combination of investments with systemic reforms in the field of nutrition will significantly improve the health of students and the quality of the educational environment.
