Mongolia intends to import oil from Kazakhstan

The cooperation between Mongolia and Kazakhstan in the field of energy and mineral extraction continues to develop

As part of the preparations for the upcoming state visit of the President of Mongolia, Khurelsukh Ukhna, the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources of Mongolia, Damdinnyam Gongor, held a meeting with the First Deputy Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, Aizhan Bizhanova. The discussion focused on expanding bilateral relations, reports MiddleAsianNews.


During the meeting, the prospects for joint work in the exploration and extraction of resources, including oil, as well as nuclear energy, were discussed. Mongolia proposed a long-term agreement to supply crude oil and petroleum products to Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan, in turn, supported Mongolia's initiative, and both countries agreed on cooperation in processing, particularly in the field of gold refining. As a result of the discussions, a memorandum of understanding was signed, which formalizes their intentions.

The outcome of the meeting was an agreement to formalize cooperation, highlighting the potential for diversifying Mongolia's energy supplies and its processing capacities.
