
This decision was the result of discussions that began back in January when Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi announced preparations to withdraw from the CIS. On March 11, the government of Moldova approved the denunciation of the agreement and the protocol. Now the draft will be considered by the parliament in two readings.
It is worth noting that Moldova has not participated in the CIS meetings since 2022. President Maia Sandu explained this by stating that the republic aims to align its international legal framework with European standards.
