Trump stated that the US is close to achieving its goals in Iran and is considering 'scaling back' the military campaign

US President Donald Trump noted on his Truth social media account that the United States is on the verge of achieving its objectives in the conflict with Iran and is considering the option of scaling back the military campaign.

He specified that the goals of the operation include the complete destruction of Iran's missile program and defense infrastructure, the elimination of naval and air forces, including air defense systems, as well as preventing the development of nuclear weapons in Iran. Additionally, one of the objectives is to ensure the security of US allies in the region, such as Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

Regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, Trump emphasized that its security should be ensured by the countries using this waterway. "The US will not take on this task! We are ready to assist in their efforts, but this should not be necessary once the threat from Iran is eliminated," he wrote.

At the same time, CBS reported, citing informed sources, that the Pentagon is actively preparing for a possible deployment of ground troops in Iran. High-ranking military officials have sent specific requests to prepare for such a scenario as Trump considers the possibility of such actions. Meetings have been held regarding the detention of Iranian military personnel and militants, including identifying locations for holding prisoners. Rapid response forces and Marine Corps expeditionary units are involved in the planning.
