
According to official information, the pardon affected 392 convicts who showed sincere remorse and were recognized as reformed during their imprisonment.
Among those pardoned, the following categories stand out:
223 individuals were fully released from their main sentence and will be set free;
82 convicts received parole;
34 individuals were transferred to a milder form of punishment;
53 individuals were released from additional penalties.
Among the pardoned:
26 women;
3 foreign citizens;
14 men over 60 years old;
166 young people (under 30 years old);
24 individuals who participated in the events of 2022 in Karakalpakstan were pardoned due to their remorse and reform.
This presidential decree is in accordance with his constitutional powers (paragraph 23 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan) and confirms the practice of humane treatment of convicts in anticipation of significant national and religious dates. These acts of mercy provide an opportunity for reunification with families, offer a chance for a new life, and emphasize the importance of compassion and forgiveness, especially during the days of Ramadan and Navruz.
The ministries and agencies have been instructed to assist the released individuals in their social adaptation, employment, and document restoration, so they can return to normal life as quickly as possible and contribute to the further development of the country.
