
As a result of the attacks, several gas extraction facilities were damaged. According to information provided by the Tasnim agency, citing the vice-governor of Bushehr province, authorities have urged local residents to avoid approaching the affected areas. The Axios portal, referencing sources in the government, clarified that the attacks were coordinated with the United States.
According to Iranian state television, a fire broke out at one of the extraction facilities in the Persian Gulf as a result of the airstrikes, and firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene of the incident.
South Pars, the largest gas field in the world, is shared by Iran and Qatar and plays a crucial role in the country's energy system, providing about 70% of domestic gas supply. A significant portion of Iranian natural gas is consumed for domestic market needs.
In response to the strikes on its gas infrastructure, Iran promised harsh measures against "sources of aggression" and declared its intention to attack the fuel, energy, and gas infrastructure of those countries from which the attacks were launched. Iranian state television published a list of "legitimate targets," which includes oil and gas facilities in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE, and promised that the attacks would begin "in the coming hours."
The command of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that the time for limited battles has passed, and now the "pendulum of war" has swung towards "comprehensive economic warfare," referring to attacks on Iran's vital infrastructure.
