According to the latest information, the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping is scheduled to visit Mongolia in 2026. This visit will be the second for Xi Jinping since his first visit in 2014. In August of that year, he was invited by then-President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj, where he spoke at a plenary session of the parliament. This information was published by MiddleAsianNews.

At the time of his first visit, Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan were welcomed by the Prime Minister of Mongolia Altanguyag Norov at Buyant-Ukhaa International Airport.

Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj, the President of Mongolia at that time, noted: “I invited the Chairman of the PRC Xi Jinping for his first state visit to our country. Both sides agreed that this visit is significant, strengthening friendly relations and cooperation between our states, and will open new horizons for their development.”

In 2024, Mongolia and China will celebrate a number of significant diplomatic events, including the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 30th anniversary of the renewed Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation. These events will serve as a foundation for further strengthening high-level interactions between the countries.

Mongolia has also sent its leaders to Beijing, the last time being in February 2020, when then-President Khaltmaa Battulga met with Xi Jinping during his official visit to China.

It is worth mentioning that the President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh and Chairman of the PRC Xi Jinping met in Beijing on September 2, 2025.

Additionally, the President of Italy Sergio Mattarella, accepting the invitation from Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, also plans to visit Mongolia on a state visit in 2026.
