Cooperation between the EU and Mongolia in the field of 'green' and sustainable investments is strengthening

During the discussions, the Mongolian delegation emphasized the significant potential of the country in the field of renewable energy sources. They expressed a desire for active cooperation with international partners to reform the energy sector, which is one of the key areas of the government's work. Participants also discussed expanding cooperation in areas such as renewable energy, infrastructure, and sustainable financing, as well as the implementation of specific investment projects.

Dorjhand Togmid mentioned that last year the first Mongolian-European Investment and Business Forum took place in Ulaanbaatar, where the European Investment Bank signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Mongolia. Under this agreement, funding of up to 1 billion euros is provided to support Mongolia's 'green' transition, which will attract European companies to projects in renewable energy and modern energy solutions.

During the event, the Deputy Prime Minister also held meetings with Peter De Roover, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Belgium, and Jozef Síkela, European Commissioner for International Partnerships. The discussions addressed issues of deepening cooperation between Mongolia and the EU, as well as with Belgium, including areas of trade, investment, renewable energy, rare earth elements, tourism, and digital infrastructure.

Additionally, the parties considered opportunities for joint actions with European partners to strengthen Mongolia's energy security, including through the implementation of modern technologies such as battery energy storage systems.
