Iran is not asking for a ceasefire or for negotiations, - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi

Abbas Araghchi
During the interview, Araghchi stated that Iran has not asked for a ceasefire and has not initiated negotiations. “We are ready to defend ourselves for as long as necessary,” he emphasized, adding that the struggle will continue until President Trump recognizes the illegality of the current war.- How do you comment on U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement that he is not ready for a deal with Iran?

- We have never asked for a truce, — Araghchi replied. — This war is the choice of President Trump and the United States, and we will continue to defend ourselves.

- What is the situation regarding the security of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz?

- We are ready for dialogue with those countries that are interested in the safe passage of their vessels. Although I cannot name specific states, we have already received requests from several countries to ensure the safety of their ships. Our military is making decisions on this matter and has already allowed a group of vessels to pass under protection.

- What are your plans for restoring relations with neighboring countries that are U.S. allies after the attacks?

- These states have provided their territory for attacks by American forces, and we cannot remain indifferent when we are attacked from their territory.

Araghchi also touched upon the topic of Iran's nuclear facilities, noting that they are “currently in ruins,” and there are no plans for their restoration at this time. According to him, during the negotiations on the nuclear deal, Tehran offered to “reduce the level of enriched uranium,” which he called “a serious concession.” However, the current conflict situation has changed the circumstances, and “there is nothing on the table now — everything depends on the future.”
