Trump called on several countries to send ships to the Strait of Hormuz

The U.S. President promised to "blow" the Iranian coastline "to pieces"

While serving as President of the United States, Donald Trump called on several countries from Europe and Asia to send their warships to ensure the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, which is currently under threat due to potential attacks from Iran, DW reports.

In his message on the Truth Social platform, published on March 14, Trump expressed hope that countries such as China, France, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom, as well as other nations facing the consequences of this "artificial restriction," would take measures to send ships to the region. "We must put an end to the threats from a country that has been completely decapitated," he noted.

Trump also stated that the United States has "already destroyed 100% of Iran's military capabilities," but added that the Iranian regime is still capable of "launching one or two drones or dropping a mine" on this strategically important maritime route. "We will blow the coastline to pieces with bombs and constantly destroy Iranian boats and ships. Soon we will make the Strait of Hormuz open, safe, and free," the president emphasized.

It was previously reported that Italy, France, and Greece have sent their warships to the Red Sea as part of a European Union naval mission called Aspides. However, as noted by the British newspaper Financial Times, none of the European fleets are currently prepared to escort vessels through the strait due to concerns about potential escalation of the conflict.

Nevertheless, according to the publication, several European countries have begun preliminary negotiations with Tehran regarding the possibility of reaching an agreement that would ensure the safe passage of their vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. Among the countries mentioned were France and Italy, although Rome denied the information about negotiations, and Paris refrained from commenting. At the same time, sources from the newspaper indicate the lack of guarantees for the success of these negotiations, although Iran is ready to discuss the issue.
