As reported by The Guardian, fines, prison sentences, and even deportation may be imposed in the UAE for those who film or publish videos of missile attacks. These actions are considered under the cybercrime law. Among those accused is a 60-year-old British man who was in Dubai as a tourist. Recordings of an Iranian missile strike on the emirate were found on his phone.

According to the legislation, the punishment can range from two years of imprisonment to fines between 20,000 and 200,000 dirhams. For foreign nationals, this may also mean deportation. The publication points out that the dissemination of such materials is considered a threat to public safety and can cause panic.

Moreover, not only those who create videos may be targeted, but also those who share them or comment on already published materials.

The Guardian also notes that similar restrictions are in place in Bahrain, where there is increased monitoring of internet publications amid regional conflicts.
