A strong flare has been recorded on the Sun for the first time in three weeks

According to information from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory, on March 13 at 12:55 Moscow time, an M1.2 class flare occurred on the Sun, lasting approximately 20 minutes. The source notes that this event is the first in almost a month, as the previous flare of the same class was recorded on February 25.

Although the M1.2 flare itself is not unusual and corresponds to the minimum level within the M-class, its effects on Earth are not predicted. The fact is that the flare occurred at the edge of the solar disk, and there are no signs that it may indicate the Sun's exit from its current local minimum of activity.

At the same time, streams of plasma from a coronal hole have already begun to reach our planet, leading to weak magnetic disturbances. It is expected that by the end of the day, a transition to the level of a magnetic storm may occur.
