
The incident occurred on March 12 at the Karabatan range, which belongs to military unit No. 41/433 of the Western Regional Command of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan.
During combat training exercises, a serviceman sustained a gunshot wound and was urgently transported to a regional hospital; however, unfortunately, his life could not be saved.
Preliminary data suggests that the cause of the tragedy may have been careless handling of a service weapon.
In connection with the incident, the military investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan has initiated a criminal case. An investigation is currently underway to clarify all the details of the incident.
The Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan expressed condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased soldier.
“The command of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan extends its sincere condolences to the relatives of the serviceman. They will be provided with the necessary assistance and support in accordance with the law,” the department stated.
According to the Minister of Defense, a special commission headed by the Deputy Minister has been sent to the scene. The investigation is also under the control of the Main Military Prosecutor's Office.
