As reported by Bloomberg, the Bank of England plans to update the design of its banknotes, replacing images of historical figures with depictions of wildlife. Possible new images may include animals such as badgers and hedgehogs.

This decision is the result of a public survey in which about 44,000 citizens participated. The majority of respondents expressed a preference for images of nature, while historical figures came in third place in the voting.

New images will be placed on the reverse side of £5, £10, £20, and £50 notes, while portraits of well-known Britons such as Jane Austen, William Turner, and Alan Turing will be removed. The front side of the banknotes will remain unchanged - it will feature King Charles III.
