Agasi Arutyunyan appointed FAO representative in Tajikistan

In his new role, Agasi Arutyunyan will be responsible for coordinating and implementing FAO projects in the country, actively engaging with local partners and international organizations. His main tasks will include promoting the development of sustainable agri-food systems, improving living conditions in rural areas, as well as enhancing food security and nutrition quality in Tajikistan.

Arutyunyan, a citizen of Armenia, has over 15 years of experience working at FAO in various leadership positions. He holds a Doctorate in Historical Sciences in the field of international relations and has both a Master's and Bachelor's degree in the same field from Yerevan State University. Additionally, he studied at St. Antony's College, Oxford, where he obtained a postgraduate diploma in management, as well as a Master's degree in Humanities in international relations and European studies from Central European University.

In this position, he succeeded Oleg Guchgeldiev.
