Iran's Foreign Ministry confirmed the injury of the new Supreme Leader

Mohtaba Khamenei
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that the new Supreme Leader of the country, Mohtaba Khamenei, was injured. However, the ministry assured that he is fine and feels well.

Esmaeil Baghaei, a representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, stated in an interview with Corriere della Sera that there is no information on when Khamenei Jr. will be able to address the public. He also noted that "three or four candidates were vying for the position of Supreme Leader, but the majority of the Assembly of Experts chose him."

According to The New York Times, citing its own sources, Khamenei was injured on February 28, the day the U.S. and Israel began attacks on Iran. Sources claimed that this was the reason for his absence from the public eye, as well as for security considerations. At the same time, it was emphasized that the Supreme Leader is conscious and feels normal. Shortly after the report was released, Yusef Pezeshkian, the son and advisor to the President of Iran, stated that Khamenei is completely healthy.

Later, Reuters reported that, according to sources, the Supreme Leader of Iran sustained a minor injury but continues to fulfill his duties. It is believed that the injury concerns his leg. CNN also mentioned that it could be a leg fracture.
