Phuket Airport Paralyzed for Six Hours After Hard Landing of Aircraft
There were 133 passengers on board, and fortunately, no one was injured. Passengers were quickly evacuated and moved to a waiting area.
The aircraft remained on the runway, leading to a complete shutdown of airport operations. As a result, the administration decided to temporarily close the runway for the evacuation of the aircraft and inspection of the surface condition.
It was expected that recovery operations would take about six hours. This situation forced dozens of flights heading to Phuket to either circle in waiting or divert to alternate airports in Bangkok and Krabi.
According to video from the scene, the damage to the landing gear was severe: not only did the front wheel burst, but the strut was also damaged. A preliminary inspection confirmed that the cause of the incident was a hard landing.
