According to Zelensky, the meeting was planned for Tuesday or Wednesday in Turkey, but was postponed due to the situation in the Middle East. “We were ready to go to Turkey, but the meeting was rescheduled. The American side suggested moving it to next week. This is the information at the moment,” the president noted in response to journalists' questions in an online format.
He added that consultations with representatives of the USA are taking place daily, and “we will keep track of when the next meeting will take place.”
Steve Witkoff, the special envoy of the US president, confirmed in an interview with CNBC that a new round of negotiations will indeed take place next week. “There are signs that both sides are tired; we hope this will mark the beginning of a turning point,” he stated.
Russia has not yet provided any comments regarding the postponement of the meeting.
Since the beginning of 2026, Ukraine, Russia, and the USA have already held several rounds of trilateral negotiations.
In January and early February, delegations met in Abu Dhabi, and then negotiations took place in Geneva in mid-February. A new round was planned for early March in Abu Dhabi.
After the onset of the conflict between the USA and Israel with Iran, Zelensky reported that the decision to postpone the new round was made due to the hostilities in the Middle East.
