In a telephone interview with CBS News, Donald Trump stated that the war with Iran is "practically over." He claims that Iran no longer has a navy or air force, and that the country's missiles and drones are being destroyed in ongoing operations.

As CBS News notes, the U.S. operation is progressing faster than initially expected. According to the Pentagon, around 3,000 targets in Iran were hit during the first week.

When asked about the new Supreme Leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, Trump said he has "no message" for him. Earlier, Reuters reported that the American president had expressed intentions to participate in shaping the future leadership of Iran.

Amid these events, tensions remain high in the Strait of Hormuz. According to Reuters, commercial shipping through the strait has significantly decreased since the conflict began, but Trump asserts that the strait is already open, although he continues to "consider its capture."

At the same time, European countries are considering measures to protect trade in the region. Reuters reports that Britain's allies are working on ensuring safe passage for commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
