Turkey will deploy Patriot air defense systems in the east of the country due to the escalation in the Middle East

An official statement emphasizes that this decision was made to enhance the protection of Turkey's airspace and ensure the security of its borders. Active consultations are also underway with NATO allies.

Furthermore, in light of current threats, the Alliance is strengthening its air and missile defense. The Turkish Ministry of Defense noted: “Our country will continue to analyze the situation in cooperation with NATO and its allies, making efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.”

This statement came just hours after a second ballistic missile was intercepted in the skies over Turkey, launched at the onset of the conflict between the USA and Israel against Iran. The first missile was shot down over the Mediterranean Sea on March 4, according to Anadolu. In this context, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that violations of the country's airspace "cannot be justified by anything." Iran, for its part, denied the accusations of launching missiles at Turkey.
