Cold weather has arrived in Tajikistan, with snow expected in some areas

In the foothill and valley regions, precipitation may change from rain to snow in the afternoon, while in the mountainous areas, snow will dominate as precipitation.

In areas such as Devashtich, Shahriston, Gorno-Matcha, Rasht, Sangvor, Lakhsh, Varzob, Ishkashim, and Shugnan, the snow cover may reach 10–30 cm. In the foothills of Faizobod, Khovaling, Muminabad, Baljuvan, Shamsiddin Shohina, Penjikent, Ayni, and Istaraavshan, 3–10 cm of snow is expected.

Precipitation is expected to begin to cease on March 11 during the day.

Due to the intrusion of cold air, temperatures may drop by 9–14° from March 10 to 11.

In the mountainous areas, as well as at the Anzob and Shahristan passes, there is a threat of avalanches, while in the foothills of Penjikent, Ayni, Khovaling, Muminabad, and Shamsiddin Shohina, mudflows may occur. An increase in water levels is predicted in the Yakhsu, Kyzylsu (southern), and on the southern slopes of the Gissar Range.

Forecasters warn of possible complications in the weather situation on March 10-11, including worsening road conditions, fog, ice, and temporary disruptions in the operation of transport and utility services.

It was previously reported that warm weather is expected in Tajikistan in March; however, the amount of precipitation will exceed the norm, and thunderstorms and hail are possible on some days.
