
During the conversation, which lasted about an hour, key issues were discussed, such as the situation with Iran and the trilateral negotiations in the Russia–U.S.–Ukraine format. Ushakov reminded that the previous meeting of the leaders took place in December 2025.
According to the assistant to the Russian president, Trump expressed interest in a quick ceasefire in Ukraine and achieving peace. Putin, in turn, welcomed the mediating efforts of the U.S. and their negotiating team.
At a press conference in Florida, Trump also commented on the conversation with Putin. He noted that the Russian president "wanted to help" in resolving the conflict with Iran, but the main focus was on the war in Ukraine. He described the situation as a "never-ending struggle," emphasizing the deep hatred between Putin and Zelensky, which he believes hinders peaceful coexistence. Trump added, "I said it would be more helpful if you could help end the war in Ukraine. The conversation was positive."
