The USA Recognized the New Government of Venezuela
On the following day, March 6, the U.S. Department of the Treasury decided to ease sanctions on Venezuela's gold mining industry, granting American companies the right to import, process, and sell Venezuelan gold.
Earlier this year, a military operation took place in Venezuela, during which President Nicolás Maduro was detained on January 3 and subsequently taken by U.S. special forces to the United States. After this, Vice President Delcy Rodríguez assumed the duties of president.
The new Venezuelan government has already released several political prisoners and made changes to mining legislation, opening the oil sector to foreign investment.
On February 27, Delcy Rodríguez appealed to Washington to lift sanctions and the blockade on Venezuelan oil, emphasizing that Caracas is ready for a new stage of cooperation with the U.S.
Additionally, the U.S. State Department announced an agreement reached with the interim authorities of Venezuela regarding the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
