Where Can Iranian Ballistic Missiles Reach?
One of the most powerful missiles in Iran's arsenal is the Khorramshahr. This missile has a warhead weighing up to 1,800 kg and can reach a range of about 2,000 km. According to Tehran, with a reduced payload, its range can increase to 3,000 km.
Additionally, experts highlight the Sejjil, Ghadr, and Emad missiles, which are considered some of the longest-range liquid-fueled ballistic missiles in Iran's arsenal. However, it is worth noting that many characteristics of these missiles, such as range and warhead power, may be exaggerated, as they are based on official statements from Iran.
Drones also play an important role in Iran's military potential. For example, the Shahed-136 drone can reach distances of up to 2,500 km. The Arash-2 (Kian-2) drone has a range of 1,000 to 1,600 km, while the Karrar jet drone can operate at a distance of about 1,000 km.
According to Israeli intelligence, by the summer of 2025, Iran had approximately 2,500 to 3,000 medium-range ballistic missiles with a range of 1,000 to 3,000 km. This information was provided by Israeli military expert David Hendelman in an interview with the "Russian Service of the BBC".
The JINSA analytical center confirmed the data from Israeli intelligence in its February 2026 report but noted that Iran does not have missiles capable of covering distances greater than 2,000 km.
In addition to ballistic missiles, Iran also possesses cruise missiles and strike drones, including the "Shahed" series. Experts emphasize that specialized air defense systems are required to protect against such systems.
