According to Mirbagheri's statement, during the consultations, the participants reached a unanimous opinion that reflects the views of the majority, as reported by the Mehr agency.

However, he also noted the presence of certain obstacles that need to be overcome before the candidate is officially approved. The process, he said, should be completed in the near future.

Earlier, Ahmad Khatami, who is also a member of the Experts Council, stated that potential candidates have already been identified, and the selection of a new leader could take place in the shortest possible time. However, the current military situation in the country may affect the timeline for making a final decision.

It is worth recalling that the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, was killed on February 28 as a result of a joint operation by the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic. The Experts Council has already begun the process of selecting a new leader, and some media, including U.S. President Donald Trump, are naming the likely successor to the Ayatollah as his son Mojtaba.
