According to the intelligence agency, the targets of the perpetrators included important sites and representatives of religious communities in Azerbaijan. Among the alleged targets were the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, the Israeli embassy, the leader of the mountain Jewish community, and an Ashkenazi synagogue.
Security service specialists reported that three explosive devices were smuggled into Azerbaijan, which were intended to be handed over to third parties. The successful actions prevented potential casualties and destruction.
As a result of the investigation, the court has already issued rulings on several defendants. Four of them were found guilty and received sentences of 6 years and 6 months in prison. Two other individuals are accused of organizing an attempt on the life of a public figure, while one is charged with illegal possession of weapons and explosives. Pre-trial detention has been applied to these defendants.
