The farewell ceremony for Ali Khamenei, the slain Supreme Leader of Iran, has been canceled, as reported by the Tasnim agency.

The farewell ceremony was scheduled for the evening of March 4 and was supposed to last for three days. However, due to the large number of people wishing to attend the event and the inability to ensure safety, it had to be canceled.

The head of the Coordination Council for Islamic Propagation of Tehran Province, Seyed Mohsen Mahmoudi, noted that the new date for the ceremony will be announced in the coming days.

"Due to the high number of people wishing to participate in this event and the need to create conditions for their accommodation, it has been decided to postpone the ceremony to a more convenient time," he added.

Events leading up to this include an attack by Israel and the U.S. on Iranian territory on February 28. Later, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that 86-year-old Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed as a result of the strike, which Iran officially confirmed on March 1. A 40-day mourning period was declared in the country for his death.
