The funeral of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been postponed.
According to information from Western sources, the new Supreme Leader of Iran is Ali Khamenei's son, Mojtaba. This decision was made by a council of 88 members of the highest Shia clergy, although officials and state media in Iran have not yet confirmed this news.
Meanwhile, active hostilities continue in the conflict between Israel and the U.S. with Iran. On the fifth day of military operations, Israeli forces struck at the headquarters of Iranian security forces in Tehran, as well as at the facilities of the Shia group "Hezbollah" in Lebanon.
Israeli military reported that over 5,000 bombs have been dropped on Iran during the conflict. The IDF noted that Air Force fighters continue to maintain air superiority, especially in the Tehran area, and released a video demonstrating strikes on the Iranian air defense system in that region.
In response, Iranian armed forces launched drones and missiles at Israeli territory and U.S. military bases in the Persian Gulf.
The Qatari Ministry of Defense reported that one of the Iranian missiles was intercepted by the air defense system, while another struck the American airbase Al-Udeid.
According to the human rights organization Human Rights Activist News Agency, over a thousand civilians have died in Iran since the beginning of the conflict, including representatives of government structures.
The Times of Israel reports that the Israeli operation against Iran may last another one to two weeks, during which the IDF plans to attack many additional targets.
The Israeli side claims that the goal of the operation is to weaken the Iranian regime and its military capabilities. The Israeli army also suggests that some Gulf countries, which have become victims of Iranian attacks, may join the campaign against Tehran.
