Intermed Hospital has signed a strategic agreement with the International University of Health and Welfare (IUHW), one of the leading private organizations in the field of healthcare and education in Japan. It will now be known as Intermed IUHW Hospital, as reported by MiddleAsianNews.
This event marks the beginning of the integration of Japanese medical standards and technologies into Mongolia.
As part of this strategic partnership, the joint venture Intermed IUHW Hospital will introduce advanced Japanese diagnostic and treatment technologies into the Mongolian healthcare system, expanding access to high-quality medical services in the country.
Odjaragal Jambaljamts, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MCS Group, stated: “When creating Intermed Hospital, our goal was to establish an efficient medical institution that meets international standards and provides access to quality healthcare. The agreement with one of Japan's leading healthcare organizations is a step towards achieving international standards in our sector.”
This partnership will enable modern diagnostic and treatment procedures to be conducted in Mongolia that were previously unavailable, as well as implement preventive examinations according to Japanese standards. The results of examinations conducted at Intermed IUHW Hospital will be verified by Japanese specialists, which is significant for the quality of medical care.
As part of the collaboration, a 320-slice computed tomography scanner and a modern angiography system for interventional treatment will be installed at the hospital. A telemedicine system is also being implemented, allowing remote consultations with Japanese doctors on complex cases, including teleradiology and telepathology, enabling patients to receive consultations directly.

Takagi Kuninori, Chairman of the Board of Directors of IUHW, noted that Intermed Hospital is the first medical institution outside Japan to bear the name of the IUHW group. He expressed hope for successful cooperation that will allow doctors and nurses from Mongolia to undergo internships and further training at IUHW university hospitals with the opportunity for consultations with Japanese specialists.
Thus, investments in Intermed IUHW, the first hospital in Mongolia with international JCI accreditation, provide the country with the opportunity to develop a world-class healthcare system, which is a significant achievement for the sector.
International University of Health and Welfare (国際医療福祉大学) is a private university founded in 1995, with five campuses across Japan. It offers a 6-year medical program, accepting 140 students per year, of which 20 places are reserved for international students.
