According to Israeli military sources, a group of Iranian scientists was secretly working on the development of a crucial component for nuclear weapons at this underground facility. So far, neither Iran nor the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has made any official comments on this matter.
Since February 28, Israeli and American forces have been carrying out strikes on Iranian military and nuclear facilities, as well as on government institutions. U.S. President Donald Trump previously stated that one of the goals of this military operation is to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
Additionally, Reuters published satellite images that captured the aftermath of the first strike on the Iranian nuclear facility in Natanz since the beginning of this war. These attacks are believed to have been carried out on March 1-2.
The IAEA confirmed that several buildings in Natanz were damaged as a result of the attacks. However, according to the agency, no radiological consequences are anticipated, and no additional damage to the facility itself has been found, although it had already been affected by strikes in June 2025.
