The platform accounts for expenses related to the maintenance of military personnel, deployed ships and air forces, as well as costs for fuel, logistics, armaments, cyber and space support, and other associated expenses. Additionally, the resource tracks data on American troop losses.
As of now, the total amount of expenses has approached $2 billion. According to available data, military actions are costing the U.S. approximately $4,400 every second.
Daily expenses for naval forces range from $15.7 million to $21.5 million, while daily operational costs are around $220 million. In the initial days of the operation, the authors of the site estimate that expenses reached $380 million per day, subsequently decreasing to $220 million, and after the tenth day, to $155 million per day.
Furthermore, the site keeps track of used munitions and destroyed equipment. For example, the loss of three aircraft cost the U.S. $270 million, while strikes against Iran cost an additional $538 million.
Included in the calculated personnel expenses can reach $40 million per day with the deployment of about 50,000 military personnel, while costs for the fleet and aviation amount to around $70 million per day, with overhead expenses accounted for separately. Equipment losses and the use of expensive missiles are also considered separately.
The authors of the project emphasize that the actual costs of replenishing munitions stocks may exceed the estimated figures by 10–20%. Long-term expenses for veteran healthcare and economic losses are not included in the total amount.
Among the data sources used for the analysis are materials from the U.S. Department of Defense, reports from CBO and GAO, data from TRANSCOM and DLA Energy, publications from Defense News, the Costs of War project at Brown University, as well as studies from the Stimson Center and SIPRI.
