Putin: Russia is ready to provide possible assistance in stabilizing the situation in the Middle East

Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a phone conversation with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which took place on March 2, expressed Russia's readiness to assist in stabilizing the situation in the Middle East. This was reported by Anadolu.
The Kremlin's press service stated that during the discussion, the leaders paid attention to the tragic events occurring in the region.
Both sides emphasized the importance of an immediate ceasefire and a return to diplomatic negotiations.
Putin also noted that Russia has already taken significant steps towards a peaceful resolution of the situation related to the Iranian nuclear program and the search for mutually acceptable solutions, in which the Emirates have actively participated. "Unfortunately, the results achieved were destroyed as a result of an unfounded act of aggression against a sovereign state – a member of the UN, which is a violation of international law," he added.
The Russian President expressed gratitude to Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his efforts to support Russian citizens in the Emirates, including tourists, in the current situation.
The President of the UAE emphasized that Iranian strikes directly affect the territory of the Emirates, causing damage and creating a threat to the civilian population.
He noted that these strikes are unjustified, as the UAE is not being used as a base for attacks on Iran.
In response, Putin expressed his readiness to convey these signals to Tehran and provide assistance in stabilizing the situation in the region.
The leaders agreed on the necessity of maintaining constant contact.
Later, Putin also spoke by phone with the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Both presidents expressed concern about the potential expansion of the conflict in the region. "We hope that Iranian retaliatory actions will not negatively impact the civilian population and infrastructure of neighboring countries, including tourist and transport facilities," the Kremlin's press service noted.
The Emir of Qatar expressed gratitude for the support from regional countries in this difficult situation and confirmed the priority of cooperation with Moscow in various fields. Putin and Al Thani expressed hope for a swift de-escalation of the conflict and a return to diplomatic methods of resolving issues.
The Kremlin's press service also reported that Putin discussed the escalation surrounding Iran with the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Both leaders agreed that the situation puts the entire region on the brink of war.
"We exchanged views on the unprecedented escalation caused by the aggression of the USA and Israel, which could lead to serious consequences," the statement emphasizes.
Putin and the King of Bahrain called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the Middle East to return the situation to the realm of diplomacy. "Both sides stressed the need for a swift end to the conflict to prevent the situation from escalating into a full-scale war, which threatens the security of many Arab countries with which Russia maintains good relations," the statement noted.
