The number of visitors to the zoo in Itikawa, Japan, has doubled, which is linked to the growing interest in a baby Japanese macaque named Panti. This macaque has become famous due to social media posts, according to information from RIA Novosti.
Since February, the story of Panti, who, having lost his mother, finds comfort only in a plush orangutan toy, has attracted the attention of millions of users. His adventures, including moments when he complains about his peers or tries to get the attention of zoo staff, are regularly updated with new videos.
A zoo representative noted that the increase in visitors is particularly noticeable on weekends and holidays, when the number of guests has doubled compared to regular years. Furthermore, the media interest in Panti is so great that those wishing to speak with the zoo's press secretary have to sign up for a virtual queue for several days.
