According to meteorological forecasts, bad weather is expected from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on March 2, 2026, across the country.
Snowfalls and blizzards are predicted throughout the country today, with the eastern regions expected to start experiencing them on March 3, and in the Khalkh River basin on March 4. A drop in temperature is anticipated in most areas. In the southern part of the country, strong winds may reduce visibility on roads and slopes, creating dangerous conditions on highways.
Weather conditions: The eastern regions will be cloudy, while the western part will have variable cloudiness. Snow and blizzards are expected in the central aimags in the south and east, as well as in some Gobi and most eastern aimags.
Wind: In the western part of the region, a northwesterly wind is expected, while in the eastern part, a southwesterly wind will shift to northwesterly at speeds of 7-12 m/s. In the southern part of the Gobi aimags, wind speeds may reach 18-20 m/s, and at times even 24 m/s, leading to dust storms.
Air temperature: A sharp drop in temperature is observed in most areas. In Uvs Lake and the Darkhad Basin, temperatures may drop to -25...-30°C, in the mountainous regions of Khangai and Khövsgöl, Zavkhan, and in the Ider River valley — from -18 to -23°C. In the southeastern part of the Gobi, temperatures range from +1 to -6°C, and in the southwestern part — from +1 to -4°C. In the Dargan steppe, temperatures are expected to be -6...-11°C in the northern part of the Gobi and -10...-15°C in other regions.
In Ulaanbaatar, cloudy conditions with precipitation in the form of snow and blizzards are also forecasted. The wind will shift from southwesterly to northwesterly at speeds of 4-9 m/s, reaching 12-14 m/s in some areas. The air temperature will be -10...-12°C.
