The situation in the Middle East continues to deteriorate: the U.S. and Israel are striking Iran, while Tehran responds with attacks on Israeli and American targets. The conflict spans several countries in the region, leading to casualties among civilians and military personnel, as well as destruction of infrastructure. Despite calls from international leaders to de-escalate tensions, both sides continue to exchange strikes.
According to Israeli sources cited by CNN, among the targets of the attacks were high-ranking Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian, as well as other key military and political figures.
Iranian media report civilian casualties. According to IRNA and Fars agencies, dozens of schoolgirls were killed in Minab — the number ranges from 24 to 57 — along with many injured; it is claimed that the strike hit a girls' school.
Simultaneously, attacks on military facilities continue, resulting in the deaths of several commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and other security forces, according to Reuters.
Iranian authorities also reported significant casualties among American military personnel, claiming that up to 200 individuals may have been injured or killed, but this information has not been confirmed by independent sources.
In response to the strikes, Iran is conducting missile attacks on Israel, where air defense systems are attempting to intercept the missiles. Strikes are also being recorded against American and allied facilities in Kuwait, Jordan, Bahrain, and Qatar. In particular, the runway of a base in Kuwait housing foreign troops has been damaged.
The conflict is also affecting the civilian infrastructure of countries in the region: explosions have been reported in Doha, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi, where air defense systems are still operational. Missiles are being intercepted in the skies over the UAE, one of which, according to media reports, was shot down near the Atlantis The Royal hotel.
Iranian military officials claim that American radar facilities in Bahrain and Qatar have also been targeted.
Dubai International Airports have temporarily suspended operations. Communication issues are being observed in several countries in the region, and Iranian authorities have urged residents of Tehran to leave the city.
French President Emmanuel Macron is calling for an immediate meeting of the UN Security Council to halt the escalation.
The Russian Foreign Ministry emphasizes the need to return to a diplomatic resolution of the situation, characterizing the actions of the U.S. and Israel as "unprovoked aggression."
At the same time, voices of criticism are being raised in the U.S. against the administration: one lawmaker stated that the attacks on Iran did not receive Congressional approval.
