Jim Carrey received the "César" award for his contribution to cinema
The ceremony took place with the participation of director Michel Gondry, who presented the award to Carrey. They collaborated in 2004 on the acclaimed film "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind."
Carrey, despite his American accent, delivered a speech in French, in which he compared acting to sculpture.
He said: "Every character for us actors is like clay that we shape as we see fit. I am grateful for the opportunity to share this art with those who have opened their hearts to me."
Additionally, the actor recalled his French roots, mentioning his ancestor Marc-François Carre, who was born in Saint-Malo and emigrated to Canada. For Carrey, receiving this award symbolized the completion of a circle.
At the end of his speech, he expressed gratitude to his loved ones, including his daughter Jane, grandson Jackson, and partner Mina, as well as his father Percy Joseph Carrey.
He emphasized: "Thank you to my father, the funniest person I ever knew, for teaching me love, generosity, and laughter."
